Actuator Pilot for a Single Set
Pressure Source
Actuator pilot for contaminated fluids using instrument air, or clean fluids to the main valve actuator.
A 2-position – 3-way or 5-way spool valve Buckling Pin pilot power the valve actuator to rotate the main quarter turn valve at set pressure.
The Model "W-A" pilot allows sensing a pressure source with a 316 piston, trim, and cylinder and at set pressure, send clean fluids to a valve actuator through a 2- position – 3-way spool valve for a spring ended actuator or a 2-position – 5-way spool valve for a pressure-pressure actuator. This allows you to turn any quarter-turn valve into a relief valve or an emergency shutdown valve.
Additional Advantages:
• You get safety without venting
..pollution.
• No product loss by venting.
• No flare system required.
• No yearly valve testing.
• The pin obeys Euler's Law precisely
..and cannot fatigue.
• There is no set pressure variation
..with ambient temperature change
..on the pin.
• The precise pin is the sensor and
..the actuator.
• The standard accuracy is +/– 5%.
• Buckled pins can be replaced
..in minutes.
• The pin cannot fatigue

Features & Advantages:
• The spool valve is sized for the actuator speed required.
• The spool valve can work with
clean fluids to 250 PSI.
• The Buckling Pin spool pilot valve can have set pressure from 1 to 5,000 PSI but is not adaptable for fluids that will solidify in the piston chamber.
ADVANTAGES: Excellent accuracy, simplicity(one moving part) and proven reliability. The sensing accuracy is +/– 5% of set point.
APPLICATIONS:
Turn any quarter-turn valve into a relief valve or an emergency shutdown valve.
PROXIMITY SENSOR OPTION: Gives a remote indication of the pin buckling and the spool shifting.
RESETTING:
To reset the pilot, vent the system pressure, remove the holding nut, discard the buckled pin, push the spool in, install a new pin, screw in the holding nut and put system pressure again on the Buckling Pin piston. |
